Business Facebook Pages Do’s and Don’ts

facebook-76536_1280

The society we live in today is constantly connected online. That being said, this creates a hub of communication for organizations of all sizes. If used correctly, sites like Facebook can streamline an organization towards successfully connecting with, and building relationships with current and potential customers.
It is important to note that online sites, such as Facebook, while potentially beneficial to organizations can also work in reverse and harm an organization as well. To ensure that your organization uses Facebook to its maximum potential, we have derived a short list of Do’s and Don’ts to help your organization strive for success.

Do’s

Necessary Information

When creating your page, make sure to add all necessary information for a possible or existing customer to reach you. In the About section of your page, you should have at least 5 pieces of information:

  1. Your company address
  2. Your company phone number
  3. Your company hours
  4. Your company website
  5. A description of what your business is

Facebook should be used for promotional purposes for your business. If you don’t add the necessary information for people to contact you, then you won’t be using Facebook to it’s full ability.

Remain Relevant

It is crucial for businesses to post often on Facebook. It is a way that people will have a higher chance of seeing your company’s page and knowing of your company. There are many businesses that post whatever they want on the internet, but to make a good impression you need to stay relevant. Post information that is relevant to your line of work, or even a blog post from your website. You should constantly be posting the most recent information about your company.

Dont’s

Spam the Audience

Wanting to grow your business on Facebook can make it easy to post everything about your company. As much as it sounds like that would be a good idea, you don’t want to post too much and end up spamming your audience. This can create the opposite effect and make them not want to associate with your business at all. A good rule of thumb is to post at most two to three things a day. This will help your business constantly stay on the newsfeed and won’t overwhelm the user.

Respond to Posts Negatively

When you start to advertise your page, more people will want to comment on posts or write reviews. As often as possible, you should respond to them appropriately, it will give your business a good reputation. One that will make clients willing to make good reviews.

However, as much as we try to avoid it, there will always come a time that a user will write a bad review or post something terrible to your page. Instead of fueling the fire and responding in the same tone, either do not respond, or write a nice apologetic response. If you respond in a negative way it will negatively effect your business.

If used correctly, Facebook can be used as a platform to drive your organizations success. Having an online presence in today’s society is something that all organizations should invest in.
